Message text: Intervals overlap, no specialization
The interval limits of account number intervals (&V1& &V2&) and (&V3&
&V4&) overlap. This means the intervals are not disjointed and also
none of the intervals is an actual specialization of the other. Only
disjointed intervals are allowed or intervals which are genuine
specializations of the other interval.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
Change the interval limits accordingly or break down the intervals.

F9631
- Intervals overlap, no specialization ?The SAP error message F9631 ("Intervals overlap, no specialization") typically occurs in the context of financial accounting, particularly when dealing with the configuration of account determination or when setting up intervals for certain financial processes, such as tax codes or account assignments.
Cause:
The error indicates that there are overlapping intervals defined in the system that cannot be processed because they conflict with each other. This can happen in various scenarios, such as:
- Tax Code Configuration: If you have defined multiple tax codes with overlapping validity periods.
- Account Determination: If there are multiple account assignments that overlap in their defined ranges.
- Specialization: The system expects a specialization for the overlapping intervals, but none is defined.
Solution:
To resolve the F9631 error, you can follow these steps:
Identify Overlapping Intervals:
- Review the configuration settings where the error is occurring (e.g., tax codes, account determination).
- Check for any defined intervals that overlap in their validity periods.
Adjust the Intervals:
- Modify the intervals to ensure that they do not overlap. This may involve changing the start and end dates of the intervals or removing unnecessary entries.
- Ensure that each interval is unique and does not conflict with others.
Define Specialization:
- If the system requires specialization for the overlapping intervals, ensure that you define the necessary specialization rules or settings.
Testing:
- After making the adjustments, test the configuration to ensure that the error no longer occurs.
Documentation:
- Document the changes made for future reference and to assist other users who may encounter similar issues.
