  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

In validation 06, the consumption ratio is compared to the previous
period. A validity interval is determined using the
    <DS:DE.MAXRELABW>permissible deviation</> and the
    <DS:DE.REGRATIO>cnsumption ratio</> of the previous period(s):
If the current consumption ratio lies outside of the interval, the
    meter readings become implausible.
If there is more than one comparison period, the current consumption
ratio must lie in at least one of the validity intervals in order to
    pass the validation.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EL272 - Dependent validation 06: Consumption ratio is outside of tolerance limit ?

The SAP error message EL272, which states "Dependent validation 06: Consumption ratio is outside of tolerance limit," typically occurs in the context of production planning and inventory management. This error indicates that the consumption ratio of materials used in a production process is not within the acceptable limits defined in the system.

    Cause:

    1. Tolerance Limits: The system has predefined tolerance limits for the consumption ratio of materials. If the actual consumption deviates significantly from these limits, the error is triggered.
    2. Incorrect Master Data: The material master data or BOM (Bill of Materials) may be incorrectly configured, leading to unrealistic consumption ratios.
    3. Data Entry Errors: Manual entries during production or inventory management may lead to incorrect consumption figures.
    4. Changes in Production Process: If there have been changes in the production process or recipe that have not been updated in the system, this can lead to discrepancies in expected versus actual consumption.

    Solution:

    1. Review Tolerance Settings: Check the tolerance limits set in the system for the specific material or production process. Adjust them if necessary to accommodate legitimate variations in consumption.
    2. Verify Master Data: Ensure that the material master data and BOM are correctly configured. Check for any discrepancies in the quantities defined.
    3. Check Production Orders: Review the production orders to ensure that the quantities consumed are accurately recorded. Look for any data entry errors that may have occurred.
    4. Analyze Consumption Data: Use transaction codes like CO03 (Display Production Order) or MB51 (Material Document List) to analyze the consumption data and identify any anomalies.
    5. Consult with Production Team: If there have been recent changes in the production process, consult with the production team to ensure that all changes are reflected in the system.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as:
      • CO03: Display Production Order
      • MB51: Material Document List
      • CS03: Display BOM
      • MM03: Display Material Master
    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message.
    • Documentation: Review SAP documentation on production planning and inventory management for best practices in managing consumption ratios and tolerance limits.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the root cause of the EL272 error and implement a solution to resolve it.
