  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The number of meter reading orders to be estimated does not match the
number of estimated meter reading results. Possible causes are:
For one of the installations, meter reading control was defined that
does not permit estimation (permitted number of automatic estimations =
    0)
A register has reached the maximum number of estimations as defined in
meter reading control for the installation.
A previous result from one of the registers is implausible.
One of the registers has an old meter reading order with a different
    meter reading reason.
The following billing master data must be maintained:
Minimum portion (in percent) of base period in forecast period in the
    rate of the register
Reference value for extrapolation in rate of the register
Weighting key in the register operand of the register

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message EL131 - &2 meter reading results were estimated for &1 meter reading orders ?

The SAP error message EL131 indicates that meter reading results for a specific meter reading order have been estimated rather than taken from actual readings. This typically occurs in the context of utilities management within SAP, particularly in modules related to billing and meter reading.

    Cause:

    1. No Actual Reading Available: The most common cause is that the system did not receive an actual meter reading for the specified period. This could be due to various reasons, such as:

      • The meter was not accessible for reading.
      • The meter reading was not recorded or entered into the system.
      • The reading was outside the acceptable range, leading the system to estimate instead.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be configuration settings in the SAP system that dictate how estimated readings are handled, which could lead to this message being triggered.

    3. Data Entry Errors: Errors in data entry or processing can also lead to the system defaulting to estimated readings.

    Solution:

    1. Check Meter Reading Entries: Verify if actual meter readings were recorded for the specified period. If not, ensure that the readings are entered correctly into the system.

    2. Review Meter Accessibility: If the meter was not accessible, consider scheduling a new reading or using alternative methods to obtain the actual reading.

    3. Adjust Configuration Settings: If the estimation process is not desired, review the configuration settings in the SAP system related to meter reading and estimation. This may involve consulting with a system administrator or SAP consultant.

    4. Manual Adjustment: If an actual reading is obtained after the fact, you may need to manually adjust the records to replace the estimated reading with the actual one.

    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or support resources for specific guidance on handling this error message, as it may vary based on the version of SAP you are using.
