Message type: E = Error
Message class: EL - IS-U meter reading data processing
Message number: 122
Message text: No period from previous year could be determined during extrapolation
The indicator BAPERTYP was allocated the value 'X' in the contract.
Either none or an insufficient number of meter readings results were
recorded for the register in the period from which the expected value
is to be calculated. For this reason, it is not possible to calculate
an appropriate status for the period of previous year.
The system calculates the expected value from the immediately preceding
period for the above-named reasons.
Check that in this case it makes sense to set the indicator 'BAPERTYP'
= 'X' in the contract.

EL122
- No period from previous year could be determined during extrapolation ?The SAP error message EL122, which states "No period from previous year could be determined during extrapolation," typically occurs in the context of financial or controlling modules when the system is trying to perform extrapolation calculations based on historical data. This error indicates that the system cannot find the necessary data from the previous year to carry out the extrapolation.
Causes:
- Missing Data: The most common cause is that there is no data available for the previous year in the relevant period or account. This could be due to data not being posted, or the data might have been archived or deleted.
- Incorrect Configuration: The configuration settings for the extrapolation process may not be set up correctly, leading to the system's inability to find the required historical data.
- Period Closure: The previous year's periods may have been closed, and no data is available for extrapolation.
- Data Transfer Issues: If data was recently migrated or transferred, there may have been issues that resulted in missing historical data.
Solutions:
- Check Historical Data: Verify that the necessary data for the previous year exists in the system. You can do this by running reports or checking the relevant tables.
- Review Configuration: Ensure that the configuration settings for extrapolation are correct. This may involve checking the settings in the controlling area or the relevant modules.
- Open Closed Periods: If the previous year's periods are closed, consider reopening them temporarily to allow for the necessary data to be accessed.
- Data Migration Review: If data was recently migrated, review the migration process to ensure that all necessary historical data was transferred correctly.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or notes related to extrapolation and the specific module you are working with for additional guidance.
