  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message E0583 - No free number found for new IDoc type ?

The SAP error message E0583, "No free number found for new IDoc type," typically occurs when the system is unable to find a free number range for the specified IDoc type. This can happen for various reasons, such as the number range being exhausted or not being properly configured.

    Cause:

    1. Exhausted Number Range: The number range for the IDoc type has been completely used up, meaning there are no more available numbers to assign to new IDocs.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The number range for the IDoc type may not be properly defined or activated in the system.
    3. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the necessary authorizations to access or create IDocs in the specified number range.

    Solution:

    2. Extend Number Range:

      • If the number range is exhausted, you can extend it by creating a new interval or increasing the upper limit of the existing interval.
      • Ensure that the new range does not overlap with existing ranges.
    3. Activate Number Range:

      • If the number range is not active, you may need to activate it. This can be done in the same SNRO transaction by selecting the appropriate number range and activating it.
