The SAP error message E0363, which states "EDI: Name of segment '&' could not be converted," typically occurs in the context of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processing. This error indicates that the system encountered a segment name in the EDI message that it could not recognize or convert into the expected format.

    Causes:

    1. Invalid Segment Name: The segment name in the incoming EDI message does not match any of the expected segment names defined in the SAP system.
    2. Configuration Issues: There may be a misconfiguration in the EDI mapping or partner profiles, leading to the system not recognizing the segment.
    3. Version Mismatch: The EDI message may be using a version or standard that is not supported or recognized by the SAP system.
    4. Data Corruption: The EDI message may be corrupted or improperly formatted, leading to issues in segment recognition.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Segment Names: Verify that the segment names in the incoming EDI message match the expected names in the SAP configuration. This can be done by comparing the EDI message against the relevant EDI standards (e.g., EDIFACT, ANSI X12).

    2. Review EDI Mapping: Ensure that the EDI mapping (transaction codes like WE60 for documentation) is correctly set up for the specific message type and that all necessary segments are defined.

    3. Partner Profile Configuration: Check the partner profile (transaction code WE20) to ensure that the correct message types and segments are configured for the trading partner.

    4. Update EDI Standards: If the EDI message is using a newer version of the standard, consider updating the SAP system or the EDI mapping to support the new version.

    5. Test with Sample Data: If possible, test the EDI processing with sample data that is known to be valid to isolate whether the issue is with the specific message or a broader configuration issue.

    6. Consult SAP Notes: Look for relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide guidance on EDI configuration and troubleshooting.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as WE02 (EDI Audit Log), WE05 (EDI Monitoring), and WE20 (Partner Profiles) for troubleshooting EDI issues.
    • EDI Standards Documentation: Refer to the documentation for the specific EDI standard being used to ensure compliance with segment definitions.
    • SAP Community and Support: Engage with the SAP Community or SAP Support for additional insights or similar cases encountered by other users.
