Message text: You can no longer change the type of task hierarchy
You are trying to change the project type. The task hierarchy type is
defined in Customizing for project types. Therefore, changing the
project type causes the task hierarchy type to be changed, which is not
permitted.
The system does not change the project type.
You can only change the project type if the task hierarchy type is
changed as follows:
<LS>None</> (no task hierarchy) -> (task hierarchy) <LS>Without Summary
Tasks</>
<LS>None </>-> <LS>With Summary Tasks</>
<LS>With Summary Tasks </>-> <LS>Without Summary Tasks</>
The following changes are not permitted:
<LS>Without Summary Tasks </>-> <LS>With Summary Tasks</>
<LS>Without Summary Tasks </>-> <LS>None</>
<LS>With Summary Tasks</> -> <LS>None</>
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

DPR_PROJECT028
- You can no longer change the type of task hierarchy ?The SAP error message DPR_PROJECT028, which states "You can no longer change the type of task hierarchy," typically occurs in the context of project management within SAP, particularly when dealing with the Project System (PS) or the Project Management (PM) module. This error indicates that you are attempting to change the type of a task hierarchy (e.g., from a milestone to a regular task or vice versa) after certain conditions have been met that prevent such changes.
Cause:
- Status of the Project: The project or task may have reached a status that locks certain changes. For example, if the project is already in a status like "Released" or "Completed," changes to the task hierarchy may be restricted.
- Dependencies and Relationships: If there are existing dependencies or relationships between tasks, changing the type of a task may not be allowed to maintain the integrity of the project structure.
- Project Planning Phase: If the project is in a planning phase that does not allow modifications to the task hierarchy, this error can occur.
Solution:
- Check Project Status: Review the status of the project and the specific task. If the project is in a status that does not allow changes, you may need to revert the project to a status that permits modifications (if possible).
- Review Dependencies: Check for any dependencies or relationships that may be preventing the change. You may need to remove or adjust these dependencies before attempting to change the task type.
- Use the Correct Transaction: Ensure you are using the correct transaction code for making changes to the project. Sometimes, using the wrong transaction can lead to restrictions.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on changing task types within your version of SAP.
- Contact SAP Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to SAP support or your internal SAP team for assistance.
