It is only possible to convert certain node types to other node types.
In this case, the selected node cannot be converted.
    The following conversions are possible:
Elements can be converted to technical nodes and vice versa.
Segments can be converted to segment groups and vice versa. Note,
however, that to carry out this conversion, the segment cannot contain
any of the following nodes as subnodes: elements, composites, or

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message DMEE339 - Node &1 cannot be converted to another node type ?

The SAP error message DMEE339, which states "Node &1 cannot be converted to another node type," typically occurs in the context of the Data Medium Exchange Engine (DMEE) when there is an issue with the configuration of the DMEE tree structure. This error indicates that there is an attempt to change the type of a node in the DMEE tree, which is not allowed.

    Cause:

    1. Node Type Mismatch: The error usually arises when there is an attempt to convert a node from one type to another (e.g., from a "Group" node to a "Data" node) in the DMEE tree structure, which is not permissible.
    2. Incorrect Configuration: The DMEE tree may have been incorrectly configured, leading to inconsistencies in node types.
    3. Data Structure Issues: The underlying data structure or the way the nodes are defined may not align with the expected types.

    Solution:

    1. Check Node Types: Review the DMEE tree structure and ensure that the node types are correctly defined. Make sure that you are not trying to change a node type that is not allowed.
    2. Recreate Nodes: If a node needs to be of a different type, consider deleting the existing node and creating a new node with the desired type instead of trying to convert it.
    3. Validate Configuration: Go through the entire DMEE configuration to ensure that all nodes are correctly set up and that there are no conflicts in the tree structure.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidelines on DMEE tree configurations and node types.
    5. Testing: After making changes, test the DMEE configuration to ensure that the error does not reoccur.

    Related Information:

    • DMEE Configuration: Familiarize yourself with the DMEE transaction codes (like DMEE) and the structure of DMEE trees.
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide additional guidance on DMEE configurations.
    • Community Forums: Engage with SAP community forums or support channels for insights from other users who may have encountered similar issues.
