Message text: No compression, ref-point update version 2 is not active for InfoCube &1
The handling of compressed records in flat inventory cubes is different
from classic Star Schema InfoCubes. Due to a program error, flat
inventory cubes in BW (based on DB2 for IBM i) were compressed using the
wrong method.
The compression of flat inventory cubes in BW (based on DB2 for IBM i)
was corrected and now uses the newest method "Reference-point update
version 2".
In order to avoid creating inconsistent data, flat inventory cubes,
which contain records compressed by the old method, cannot be compressed
anymore.
When compression starts, BW checks whether the InfoCube is using the
correct method. If this is not the case, it automatically converts the
data of the InfoCube before it continues to compress new requests.
This automated conversion could not be performed. The InfoCube has not
been converted to the correct compression method and therefore it cannot
be compressed.
If you have switched off automated conversion during compression via
RSADMIN parameter RSCDS_NO_CONVERT_TO_REFP_UPD2 = X (not recommended),
then use report RSDD_SWITCH_NCUM_HANDLING_DB4 to convert the InfoCube.
If another problem prevented a successful conversion, check the
application log of the compression or contact SAP support to help find
the cause of the error.

Specifically, it states that "No compression, ref-point update version 2 is not active for InfoCube &1." This error typically arises when you attempt to perform a compression operation on an InfoCube that does not have the necessary reference point update version activated.
Cause:
- Reference Point Update Version: The error suggests that the reference point update version 2 is not active for the specified InfoCube. This version is required for the compression process to proceed.
- Data State: The InfoCube may contain data that is not in a state suitable for compression, or there may be inconsistencies in the data.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the InfoCube settings or the data model that prevent the compression from being executed.
Solution:
Activate Reference Point Update Version:
- Go to the Data Warehousing Workbench (transaction code RSA1).
- Navigate to the InfoCube in question.
- Check the settings for the InfoCube and ensure that the reference point update version 2 is activated.
- If it is not active, activate it and try the compression process again.
Check Data Consistency:
- Ensure that the data in the InfoCube is consistent and that there are no errors in the data load process.
- You can use transaction codes like
RSA3
to check the data in the InfoCube.Review Compression Settings:
- Check the compression settings for the InfoCube. Ensure that the settings are correctly configured to allow for compression.
- You can review the settings in the InfoCube properties.
Perform a Manual Compression:
- If the automatic compression fails, you can try to perform a manual compression using transaction code
RSCONN01
orRSCOMPR
to see if it provides more detailed error messages.Consult SAP Notes:
