  • What causes this issue?

Currently, it cannot be guaranteed that SIDs and master data exists for
all characteristic attributes for the DataStore object to be read.
There is a restriction on a navigation attribute of the listed
characteristic in the query. This filters all characteristic values of
the master-data bearing characteristic for which there is not yet master
    data out of the result.
For performance reasons, this filtering is unavoidable.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message DBMAN345 - Filter on attribute of &1 filters charac. values without master data ?

The SAP error message DBMAN345 indicates that there is a filter applied on an attribute of a characteristic that does not have any corresponding master data. This typically occurs in the context of SAP BW (Business Warehouse) or SAP HANA when you are trying to execute a query or report that relies on certain characteristics or attributes, but the underlying data does not exist.

    Cause:

    1. Missing Master Data: The characteristic values you are trying to filter on do not exist in the master data table. This can happen if the data has not been loaded or if there are discrepancies in the data loading process.
    2. Incorrect Filter Settings: The filter settings in the query or report may be incorrectly configured, leading to a situation where the system is looking for values that are not present.
    3. Data Inconsistency: There may be inconsistencies between the master data and the transactional data, leading to the absence of expected values.

    Solution:

    1. Check Master Data: Verify that the master data for the characteristic in question is loaded correctly. You can do this by checking the relevant master data tables in the SAP system.
    2. Data Load Process: Ensure that the data load process (ETL) is functioning correctly. If necessary, re-run the data load to populate the missing master data.
    3. Review Filters: Review the filters applied in your query or report. Make sure that they are set correctly and that they correspond to existing master data values.
    4. Data Consistency Check: Perform a consistency check between the master data and the transactional data to identify any discrepancies.
    5. Use Default Values: If applicable, consider using default values or adjusting the filters to include broader criteria that may capture existing data.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: You can use transaction codes like RSA1 (Data Warehousing Workbench) to check the status of your InfoObjects and master data.
    • Data Sources: Check the data sources and transformations involved in loading the master data to ensure they are configured correctly.
    • SAP Notes: Look for relevant SAP Notes that may address specific issues related to this error message or provide additional troubleshooting steps.
    • Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation for BW or HANA for more detailed information on handling master data and troubleshooting related issues.
