using the function for maintaining sales order BOMs. In the sales
order, you can only assign values to the superior material.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

How to fix this error?

Assign characteristic values to the superior material of the BOM
component. The assigned values are saved for the material. Then choose
the function for maintaining sales order BOMs. You can use this
function to process the BOM for the sales order as follows:
