Message type: E = Error
Message class: CPE - Commodity Pricing Engine
Message number: 101
Message text: Either decimals or predecimals can be entered
For a rounding rule, both a number of decimals and a number of
predecimals are defined.
A rounding rule with both values (for decimals and predecimals) greater
than zero does not make sense. Results must be rounded either to a
number of decimals or to a number of predecimals. The rounding rule
cannot be created with both values.
Define either a number of decimals or a number of predecimals for the
rounding rule.

CPE101
- Either decimals or predecimals can be entered ?The SAP error message CPE101 ("Either decimals or predecimals can be entered") typically occurs in the context of entering values in fields that require a specific format for decimal numbers. This error indicates that the system expects either a decimal value or a pre-decimal value, but not both, or that the input format is incorrect.
Cause:
- Incorrect Input Format: The user may have entered a value that mixes decimal and pre-decimal formats incorrectly. For example, entering a value like "1.234,56" might trigger this error if the system expects either "1234.56" or "1234,56" based on the locale settings.
- Locale Settings: The system's locale settings may dictate how numbers are formatted (e.g., using commas or periods as decimal separators). If the input does not conform to these settings, the error can occur.
- Field Configuration: The field may be configured to accept only certain types of numeric input, and the entered value does not meet those criteria.
Solution:
- Check Input Format: Ensure that the value you are entering adheres to the expected format. If the system uses a period as a decimal separator, make sure to use it consistently.
- Adjust Locale Settings: If you are working in a multi-locale environment, check your user settings to ensure that the correct locale is selected. This can usually be done in the user profile settings.
- Review Field Requirements: Check the field's documentation or help text to understand the expected input format. Ensure that you are entering a valid number according to those specifications.
- Use Correct Separators: If your system uses commas for decimals, ensure that you are using commas instead of periods, and vice versa.
- Consult SAP Documentation: If the issue persists, refer to SAP's official documentation or support resources for more specific guidance related to the version of SAP you are using.
