Message text: Periodic settlement not allowed in collective orders
In Customizing for the &V1& order type it is defined that orders are
settled periodically (default rule PP2). However, this is not allowed
for subordinate orders in a collective order.
The system sets the default rule for this collective order to PP1
regardless of what is specified in order type &V1&. The collective
order is then subject to the full settlement
If you want to prevent this message from appearing in the future when
you create a collective order, you have the following options:
Use an order type for collective orders that uses the full settlement
(default rule PP1).
Change the Customizing settings for the order type used (&V1&).
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

CO884
- Periodic settlement not allowed in collective orders ?The SAP error message CO884, which states "Periodic settlement not allowed in collective orders," typically occurs when you attempt to perform a periodic settlement on a collective order in SAP. Collective orders are used to group multiple production orders or processes for reporting and settlement purposes, but they have specific restrictions regarding settlement types.
Cause:
The error arises because:
- Collective Orders: These orders are designed to manage multiple individual orders together, and SAP does not allow periodic settlements for these types of orders.
- Settlement Type: The system expects a different type of settlement (like individual order settlement) rather than a periodic one when dealing with collective orders.
Solution:
To resolve this error, you can consider the following approaches:
Use Individual Settlements: Instead of trying to perform a periodic settlement on the collective order, settle the individual orders that are part of the collective order. You can do this by:
- Identifying the individual orders within the collective order.
- Performing the settlement for each individual order separately.
Check Order Type: Ensure that you are using the correct order type for your requirements. If you need to perform periodic settlements, consider using a different order type that supports this functionality.
Review Configuration: If you believe that periodic settlements should be allowed for your business process, review the configuration settings in SAP. This may involve:
- Checking the order type settings in the configuration (transaction code OPL8).
- Consulting with your SAP configuration team to see if adjustments can be made to allow for the desired settlement type.
Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for more detailed information on order types and settlement processes. This can provide insights into best practices and alternative approaches.
