Message number: 747
Message text: Maximum of & days copied as duration of activity &
You want to adjust the duration of a network activity to the maximum
delivery time or replenishment lead time of all allocated material
components.
The system only calculates using the allocated material components that
have the indicator <ZH>Alignment finish date</> set. The maximum
duration comes from
the planned delivery time when the material components are procured
externally
the total replenishment lead time when the material components are
produced internally or the in-house production time if the total
replenishment lead time is not maintained in the material master
Make sure that the <ZH>Alignment finish date</> indicator on the
component detail screen of the activity is set for all material
components allocated to the activity.

This error indicates that the duration of an activity being copied exceeds the maximum allowable limit set in the system.
Cause:

This limit is often set to prevent excessively long durations that could complicate project scheduling and resource allocation.
- Configuration Settings: The maximum duration limit can be configured in the system settings, and it may vary based on organizational policies or project requirements.
Solution:
Check Configuration Settings: Review the configuration settings for maximum activity duration in the Project System. This can typically be found in the customizing settings under:
- SPRO ? Project System ? Structures ? Work Breakdown Structure ? Define Maximum Duration for Activities.
- Adjust the maximum duration limit if necessary, but ensure that this aligns with your organization's project management policies.
Modify Activity Duration: If changing the configuration is not an option, consider modifying the duration of the activity you are trying to copy. You can either:
- Reduce the duration to fit within the allowed limit.
- Split the activity into multiple shorter activities if the work can be segmented.
Consult Documentation: Review SAP documentation or help files related to project management and activity scheduling for additional insights on managing activity durations.
User Training: Ensure that users involved in project planning are trained on the limitations and best practices for setting activity durations to avoid similar issues in the future.
