  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CMS_RBL006 - Receivable numbers are being exhausted; contact your system administrator ?

The SAP error message CMS_RBL006 indicates that the system is running out of available receivable numbers. This typically occurs in the context of the SAP Collections Management or Receivables Management modules, where unique identifiers (receivable numbers) are required for processing transactions.

    Cause:

    1. Exhaustion of Number Ranges: The number range defined for receivables has been fully utilized. This can happen if the number range is not sufficiently large to accommodate the volume of transactions being processed.
    2. Configuration Issues: The number range configuration may not be set up correctly, or it may not have been extended to allow for more numbers.
    3. System Settings: The system may not be configured to automatically generate new number ranges when the current range is exhausted.

    Solution:

    1. Check Number Range Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code SNRO (Number Range Objects).
      • Look for the number range object related to receivables (often it will be something like CMS_RBL).
      • Check the current status of the number range and see if it has been exhausted.
    2. Extend the Number Range:

      • If the number range is exhausted, you can extend it by adjusting the upper limit of the number range.
      • This can be done in the same SNRO transaction by editing the number range intervals.
    3. Create a New Number Range:

      • If necessary, you can create a new number range interval to accommodate future transactions.
      • Ensure that the new range does not overlap with existing ranges.
    4. Consult with System Administrator:

      • If you do not have the necessary permissions to make these changes, contact your system administrator or SAP Basis team for assistance.
    5. Monitor Usage:

      • After making changes, monitor the usage of the number range to ensure that it is sufficient for future transactions.

    Related Information:

    • Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed instructions on managing number ranges.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as SNRO (Number Range Objects) and OBD2 (Define Number Ranges for Document Types).
    • SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may provide additional guidance or fixes related to this error message.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the CMS_RBL006 error and ensure that your system can continue processing receivables without interruption.
