You want to assign an item to an operation. This item is already
assigned to operation &V1&. You can, however, only assign a position to
several operations, if these operations are executed as alternatives.
Operation 10 from the master sequence of your task list is replaced by
operation 10 of an alternative sequence if the lot size is greater than
1000 pieces. You can assign the same position to both operations.
The component assignment cannot be created.
Check the existing component assignment to operation &V1&.
Delete this assignment if necessary and then assign the item to the
desired operation.

CMCL104
- Item has already been assigned to another operation ?The SAP error message CMCL104 ("Item has already been assigned to another operation") typically occurs in the context of production planning and control, particularly when dealing with operations and components in a production order or a routing. This error indicates that the item you are trying to assign to a specific operation is already linked to another operation, which prevents it from being assigned again.
Cause:
- Duplicate Assignment: The item (component) is already assigned to a different operation within the same production order or routing.
- Routing Configuration: The routing for the production order may have predefined assignments that conflict with your current assignment attempt.
- Order Status: The production order may be in a status that does not allow changes to assignments (e.g., released, in process).
- Data Integrity Issues: There may be inconsistencies in the data, such as incorrect routing or operation definitions.
Solution:
- Check Existing Assignments: Review the current assignments for the item in the production order or routing. You can do this by navigating to the relevant production order and checking the operations and components assigned.
- Reassign the Item: If the item is assigned to an operation that is not needed, you can remove it from that operation and then assign it to the desired operation.
- Modify Routing: If the routing is causing the conflict, consider modifying the routing to accommodate the necessary assignments.
- Order Status: Ensure that the production order is in a status that allows for changes. If it is locked, you may need to change its status or unlock it.
- Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific instructions on handling assignments in your version of SAP.
- Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
