  • What causes this issue?

    <DS:GLOS.engineering_change_management>Engineering change management</>
is not active for <DS:GLOS.classification>classification</> for class
type &V1& or objects of this class type. However, if you include new
characteristics in a class or delete characteristics from a class
    affects classification.
For this reason, engineering change management must be defined in the
IMG as active for classification for the class type or objects of the
class type. If this is not the case, you cannot change classification
    data using engineering change management.

Either make the changes without using a change number or activate
engineering change management for classification for the class type or
objects of the class type in the IMG.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message CL130 - Class type &: classification without engineering change management ?

The SAP error message CL130 indicates that there is an issue related to the classification of a material or object in the system, specifically when it comes to the use of class types that are not compatible with Engineering Change Management (ECM). This error typically arises when you attempt to classify an object using a class type that is not set up to handle engineering changes.

    Cause:

    1. Class Type Configuration: The class type you are trying to use is not configured to support Engineering Change Management. In SAP, class types can be set up with or without ECM, and if you are using a class type that does not support ECM, you will encounter this error.
    2. Material Master Settings: The material or object you are trying to classify may not be set up correctly in the material master or may not have the necessary classification data.
    3. Incorrect Class Assignment: The class you are trying to assign to the object may not be compatible with the object's current settings or status.

    Solution:

    1. Check Class Type Configuration:

      • Go to the transaction code CL02 (Change Class) and check the configuration of the class type you are using. Ensure that it is set up to support Engineering Change Management if that is required for your process.
      • If the class type is not set up for ECM, you may need to either change the class type to one that supports ECM or adjust your process to not require ECM.
    2. Review Material Master Data:

      • Use transaction code MM03 (Display Material) to review the material master data. Ensure that the classification data is correctly maintained and that the material is assigned to the correct class.
    3. Change Class Assignment:

      • If you are trying to assign a class that is not compatible, consider using a different class that is appropriate for the object you are working with.
    4. Consult with Configuration Team:

      • If you are unsure about the class type settings or how to proceed, consult with your SAP configuration team or a functional consultant who specializes in classification and ECM.

    Related Information:

    • SAP Documentation: Refer to SAP Help documentation for detailed information on class types, classification, and Engineering Change Management.
    • Transaction Codes:
      • CL01: Create Class
      • CL02: Change Class
