Message text: Costing lot size calculated for co-product & is lower than price unit
The costing lot size in the costing view of the material master is
ignored for co-products. For co-product &V1& in plant &V2&, the costing
lot size is calculated using process material &V3&.
The system determined that the lot size calculated is lower than the
price unit of material &V1&. Consequently, the costing lot size was
increased to &V4&.
However, this can cause inconsistencies with cost estimates of other
co-products that are costed using the same process.
Increase the costing lot size of process material &V3& in the costing
view of the material master record.

- Costing lot size calculated for co-product & is lower than price unit ?The SAP error message CK631 indicates that the costing lot size calculated for a co-product is lower than the price unit. This typically occurs during the product costing process when the system attempts to calculate the cost for co-products in a production process, and the resulting lot size does not meet the minimum requirements set by the price unit.
Cause:
- Co-Product Configuration: The co-products may not be configured correctly in the material master or in the production process. This can lead to discrepancies in the costing lot size.
- Price Unit Settings: The price unit defined for the co-product may be set higher than the calculated costing lot size, which can trigger this error.
- Production Process: The production process may not be generating enough quantity of the co-product to meet the price unit requirements.
- Costing Variant Settings: The costing variant used may not be set up correctly to handle co-products, leading to incorrect calculations.
Solution:
- Review Co-Product Configuration: Check the configuration of the co-products in the material master. Ensure that the co-products are set up correctly with the appropriate price units and costing parameters.
- Adjust Price Unit: If the price unit is set too high, consider adjusting it to align with the calculated costing lot size. This can be done in the material master under the purchasing or sales views.
- Check Production Process: Review the production process to ensure that it is capable of producing the required quantity of co-products. If necessary, adjust the production quantities or methods.
- Costing Variant Review: Ensure that the costing variant used for the calculation is set up correctly to handle co-products. This includes checking the settings for lot sizes and price units.
- Recalculate Costs: After making the necessary adjustments, recalculate the costs for the affected materials to see if the error persists.
