What causes this issue?

You have replaced the message category that had been assigned to the
process instruction.
The characteristic list now contains the characteristics of the new
message category.
However, the system has copied existing settings for the
characteristics of the old message category as follows:
The settings made for characteristics that are both contained in the
old and the new message category have been copied to the new message
category.
Characteristics that you have selected before and that are not
contained in the new message category are copied as additional
characteristics.
Output variables that you had already assigned are copied unchanged.

System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
