The SAP error message AY405, which states "Correct distribution - invest. profile &1 allows equivalence numbers only," typically occurs in the context of asset accounting when there is an issue with the investment profile settings related to the distribution of costs or values for assets.

    Cause:

    1. Investment Profile Settings: The investment profile specified in the error message is configured to allow only equivalence numbers for the distribution of costs. This means that the system expects the distribution to be based on equivalence numbers rather than other methods (like percentages or fixed amounts).

    Solution:

    1. Check Investment Profile: Review the investment profile (identified by &1 in the error message) in the configuration settings. Ensure that it is set up correctly to allow the desired distribution method.

      • Navigate to the configuration for the investment profile in SAP: SPRO > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Integration with Other Components > Define Investment Profiles.
      • Verify the settings related to equivalence numbers and distribution methods.
    2. Adjust Distribution Method: If the investment profile is correctly set to allow equivalence numbers, ensure that the distribution method you are using in your transaction is compatible. You may need to change the distribution method to one that uses equivalence numbers.

    3. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for detailed information on how to configure investment profiles and distribution methods correctly.

    4. Testing: After making changes, test the transaction again to ensure that the error is resolved.

    Related Information:

    • Equivalence Numbers: These are used in asset accounting to allocate costs based on a predefined ratio or number, which can be particularly useful in investment projects.

    • SAP Notes: Check SAP Notes for any known issues or patches related to this error message, as there may be updates or fixes provided by SAP.
