  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AY084 - &3: AuC exists for source structure &2 ?

The SAP error message AY084 indicates that there is an Asset under Construction (AuC) that exists for the specified source structure. This typically occurs when you are trying to perform an operation (like a transfer or a change) on an asset that is still in the AuC status, meaning it has not yet been fully capitalized or completed.

    Cause:

    1. Asset Under Construction: The asset you are trying to process is still classified as an AuC. This means that it has not yet been fully completed or capitalized into a fixed asset.
    2. Incomplete Transactions: There may be ongoing transactions or processes related to the AuC that prevent it from being processed further.
    3. Incorrect Configuration: There might be configuration issues in the asset accounting settings that are causing the system to not recognize the AuC status correctly.

    Solution:

    1. Check the Status of the Asset: Verify the status of the asset in question. If it is indeed an AuC, you will need to complete the construction or project before proceeding with any further transactions.
    2. Complete the AuC Process: If the asset is ready to be capitalized, you can perform the necessary transactions to move it from AuC to a fixed asset. This typically involves:
      • Capitalizing the AuC by using the appropriate transaction (e.g., using transaction code ABZON for capitalization).
      • Ensuring that all costs associated with the AuC are correctly posted.
    3. Review Related Transactions: Check if there are any open transactions or postings related to the AuC that need to be completed or reversed.
    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or your organization's internal guidelines for handling AuC assets to ensure compliance with accounting practices.
    5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert for further assistance.
