  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message AJ623 - The time slices of operand &1 are not identical ?

The SAP error message AJ623, which states "The time slices of operand &1 are not identical," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) module. This error indicates that there is a mismatch in the time slices of the operands being used in a calculation or report.

    Cause:

The error arises when the time periods (time slices) of the operands involved in a calculation or report do not match. This can happen due to several reasons, such as:

    • Different fiscal years or periods being used for the operands.
    • One operand may have data for a specific time slice while another operand does not.
    • The configuration of the time slices in the system may not be consistent across the operands.

    Solution:

To resolve the AJ623 error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check the Time Slices: Review the time slices of the operands involved in the calculation. Ensure that they are aligned and cover the same periods.

    2. Adjust the Data: If you find discrepancies in the time slices, you may need to adjust the data for one or more operands to ensure they match. This could involve:

      • Modifying the selection criteria in your report or calculation.
      • Ensuring that all relevant data is available for the same time periods.
    3. Review Configuration: Check the configuration settings in the CO-PA module to ensure that the time slices are set up correctly. This includes verifying the fiscal year variant and the periods defined in the system.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on handling time slices in CO-PA. This can provide insights into best practices and common pitfalls.

    5. Testing: After making adjustments, run the report or calculation again to see if the error persists. If it does, further investigation may be needed.

    6. Seek Help: If you are unable to resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with an SAP expert who can provide more tailored assistance.
