  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message ACC_AA321 - Prjt &1, chart of depr.&2: All real posting depr. areas must be assigned ?

The SAP error message ACC_AA321 indicates that there is an issue with the assignment of depreciation areas in the Asset Accounting module, specifically related to a project and its associated chart of depreciation. This error typically arises when there are inconsistencies in the configuration of depreciation areas for assets that are linked to a project.

    Cause:

    The error occurs when:

    1. Missing Assignment: Not all real depreciation areas are assigned to the asset or project in question. In SAP, real depreciation areas are those that affect the financial statements.
    2. Configuration Issues: The chart of depreciation may not have been properly configured to include all necessary depreciation areas for the asset.
    3. Project Settings: The project settings may not align with the asset settings, leading to discrepancies in how depreciation is handled.

    Solution:

To resolve the ACC_AA321 error, follow these steps:

    1. Check Depreciation Area Assignment:

      • Go to the transaction code OAYZ (or navigate through the menu: Accounting > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Master Data > Asset > Change).
      • Verify that all required real depreciation areas are assigned to the asset in question.
    2. Review Chart of Depreciation:

      • Use transaction code OADB to check the configuration of the chart of depreciation.
      • Ensure that all necessary depreciation areas are defined and assigned correctly.
    3. Project Configuration:

      • Check the project settings in transaction code CJ20N (Project Builder) to ensure that the project is correctly set up to handle the asset's depreciation areas.
      • Make sure that the project is linked to the correct chart of depreciation.
    4. Asset Master Data:

      • Review the asset master data using transaction code AS03 (Display Asset) to ensure that all relevant fields are filled out correctly and that the asset is linked to the correct project.
    5. Consult Documentation:

      • If the issue persists, consult SAP documentation or reach out to your SAP support team for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Depreciation Areas: In SAP, depreciation areas are used to manage different types of depreciation calculations (e.g., book depreciation, tax depreciation).
    • Real vs. Statistical Depreciation Areas: Real depreciation areas affect the financial statements, while statistical areas are used for reporting purposes only.
    • Transaction Codes: Familiarize yourself with relevant transaction codes such as AS01 (Create Asset), AS02 (Change Asset), and OAYZ (Define Depreciation Areas) for managing asset accounting.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify and correct the underlying issues causing the ACC_AA321 error in SAP.
