Message text: At least one layout exceeds maximum list width of 255
In the analysis of the current display variants for the row types used
in the lists, the system has determined that for at least one row type,
the overall width of the fields specified in the display variants
exceeds the maximum width of the list (255).
Where this is the case, fields that cannot be displayed within the
maximum width will be cut off.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.
To establish in which row type the maximum width of 255 has been
exceeded, go to the dialog box for configuring the individual row
types. The current setting for the width of the row is given here.
However, you should roughly double the specified number for header and
total rows, since in these rows the field descriptions are also
displayed.
You have the option of configuring the row in question so that the
fields that are cut off are displayed in a second or third row.

7Q705
- At least one layout exceeds maximum list width of 255 ?The SAP error message 7Q705 indicates that at least one layout in your report or output exceeds the maximum allowable width of 255 characters. This typically occurs in SAP when you are trying to display or print a report that has a layout with too many columns or fields, causing the total width of the layout to exceed the limit.
Cause:
- Excessive Columns: The report or layout you are trying to generate has too many columns or fields defined, leading to a total width greater than 255 characters.
- Field Lengths: Individual fields in the layout may have been defined with lengths that, when summed together, exceed the limit.
- Custom Layouts: If you are using a custom layout or report, it may not have been designed with the width limitations in mind.
Solution:
- Reduce the Number of Columns: Review the layout and try to reduce the number of columns or fields being displayed. Consider whether all columns are necessary for the report.
- Adjust Field Lengths: If possible, reduce the length of individual fields to ensure that the total width remains within the limit.
- Use Multiple Layouts: If the information is essential, consider splitting the report into multiple layouts or pages to accommodate the data without exceeding the width limit.
- Check Standard Layouts: If you are using a standard SAP layout, check if there are alternative layouts that fit within the width constraints.
- Modify the Report: If you have access to the report's design, you may need to modify it to ensure compliance with the width restrictions.
