  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 60789 - Entries exist in the future. Deletion not possible ?

The SAP error message "60789 Entries exist in the future. Deletion not possible" typically occurs when you attempt to delete or modify certain entries in the system that have future-dated records. This is common in various SAP modules, such as SAP MM (Materials Management), SAP SD (Sales and Distribution), or SAP HR (Human Resources), where future-dated transactions or records are involved.

    Cause:

The error is triggered because the system has detected that there are entries or records that are dated in the future. SAP has built-in checks to prevent the deletion of records that could potentially disrupt future processes or data integrity. This is a safeguard to ensure that future transactions are not affected by deletions.

    Solution:

To resolve this error, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Future Entries: Identify the entries that are causing the issue. You can do this by reviewing the relevant tables or transactions that are linked to the data you are trying to delete. Look for any records that have a date greater than the current date.

    2. Adjust Future Dates: If the future entries are not needed, you may need to adjust or delete those entries first. Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make these changes.

    3. Change the Date: If you are trying to delete a record that is linked to future transactions, consider changing the date of the record you want to delete to a date that is not in the future.

    4. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help files related to the specific module you are working with for more detailed guidance on handling future-dated entries.

    5. Contact Support: If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, consider reaching out to your SAP support team or consulting with SAP support for further assistance.

    Related Information:

    • Transaction Codes: Depending on the module, you may use different transaction codes to view or manage entries (e.g., ME23N for purchase orders, VA03 for sales orders, etc.).
    • Authorization: Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to delete or modify records in the system.
    • Data Integrity: Always consider the impact of deleting records on data integrity and future processes. It may be necessary to consult with stakeholders before making changes.

By following these steps, you should be able to identify the cause of the error and take appropriate action to resolve it.
