  • What causes this issue?

The role currently being processed is a derived role, which means that
it inherits its workflow tasks (like the transactions) from a
    hierarchically superordinate role.
You can maintain the workflow tasks at the superordinate role. The role
currently being processed, however, merely enables you to display them.

You can only display assignments at this point. You cannot maintain
    them.

    How to fix this error?

Please maintain the task assignments at the hierarchically
    superordinate role.

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 5W534 - Role inherits tasks -> display only ?

The SAP error message 5W534 indicates that a role inherits tasks that are set to "display only." This typically means that the role you are trying to assign or use has been configured in such a way that it can only display information and does not have the necessary permissions to perform any actions (like create, change, or delete).

    Cause:

    1. Role Configuration: The role has been defined with display-only permissions for certain tasks or transactions.
    2. Authorization Issues: The user may not have the required authorizations to perform the actions associated with the tasks in the role.
    3. Inheritance of Roles: The role inherits from another role that has display-only permissions for certain tasks.

    Solution:

    1. Review Role Configuration:

      • Go to the role maintenance transaction (PFCG).
      • Check the authorization objects and the associated permissions for the role in question.
      • If necessary, modify the role to include the required permissions for the tasks you need.
    2. Adjust Inherited Roles:

      • If the role inherits from another role, check the parent role's configuration.
      • Ensure that the parent role has the necessary permissions and is not set to display-only for the tasks you need.
    3. User Authorizations:

      • Ensure that the user assigned to the role has the necessary authorizations to perform the required actions.
      • You may need to adjust the user’s profile or assign additional roles that provide the necessary permissions.
    4. Testing:

      • After making changes, test the role assignment with a user to ensure that the permissions are now correctly set and that the user can perform the required actions.
