Message text: Cannot create an entry to copy & to & because & already exists
You chose <LS>copy 1 wage type</> and then entered the three parameters
to create several copies of one model wage type. But one of the wage
type names you have just generated already exists in table T512W.
The entry that had an existing wage type name is not created, but all
the other new entries are displayed in the table.
You entered the following for the original wage type <LS>M001</>:
Wage type begins at <LS>1000</>
Number of wage types <LS>4</>
Increase per step <LS>10</>
However, wage type 1020 already exists, so the system only creates
three new entries in the table on the screen. These are:
<LS>Original WT</> <LS>Customizing WT</>
M001 1000
MOO1 1010
M001 1030

- Cannot create an entry to copy & to & because & already exists ?The SAP error message 54299, which states "Cannot create an entry to copy & to & because & already exists," typically occurs when you are trying to create a new entry in a table or a configuration that already has an existing entry with the same key or identifier. This can happen in various contexts, such as when working with customizing settings, master data, or configuration tables.
Cause:
- Duplicate Entry: The most common cause is that the entry you are trying to create already exists in the system. This could be due to a previous configuration or data entry that was not properly deleted or modified.
- Incorrect Data: Sometimes, the data being used to create the new entry may inadvertently match an existing entry, leading to a conflict.
- Transport Issues: If you are working in a development environment and transporting changes to a production environment, there may be conflicts with existing entries.
Solution:
- Check Existing Entries: Before creating a new entry, check the existing entries in the relevant table or configuration. You can use transaction codes like SE11 (Data Dictionary) or SE16 (Data Browser) to view the entries.
- Modify or Delete Existing Entry: If you find that the entry already exists and it is not needed, you can modify or delete it as appropriate. Ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to make these changes.
- Use Different Key: If you need to create a new entry, consider using a different key or identifier that does not conflict with existing entries.
- Consult Documentation: Review the relevant SAP documentation or help files for the specific module you are working with to understand the requirements for creating entries.
- Transport Management: If this issue arises during a transport, ensure that the transport does not contain duplicate entries. You may need to adjust the transport request or resolve conflicts in the target system.
