- The BOM for sales order item & & is not valid on & ?The SAP error message 29783 indicates that there is an issue with the Bill of Materials (BOM) for a specific sales order item. This error typically arises when the BOM is not valid for the specified sales order item on the given date. Here’s a breakdown of the cause, potential solutions, and related information:
Cause:
- BOM Validity Period: The BOM may not be valid for the date specified in the sales order. Each BOM has a validity period, and if the sales order date falls outside this range, the system will throw this error.
- BOM Status: The BOM might be marked as inactive or not released for use in production or sales.
- Material Master Data: The material associated with the sales order item may not have the correct BOM assigned or may not be set up properly in the material master.
- Configuration Issues: There may be configuration issues in the system that prevent the BOM from being recognized for the sales order item.
Solution:
- Check BOM Validity: Verify the validity dates of the BOM in the BOM master data (transaction code CS03). Ensure that the BOM is valid for the date of the sales order.
- Activate/Release BOM: If the BOM is inactive, you may need to activate or release it. This can be done in the BOM master data.
- Review Material Master: Check the material master data (transaction code MM03) for the sales order item to ensure that the correct BOM is assigned and that all necessary data is complete.
- Update Sales Order: If the BOM is valid but the sales order date is incorrect, consider updating the sales order date to fall within the BOM's validity period.
