SAP Error Message - Details

  • Message type: E = Error

  • Message class: 28 - Configuration

  • Message number: 132

  • Message text: Inference for characteristic variable &2 (facet &1) not possible

  • Show details Hide details
  • What causes this issue?

The syntax check recognized an error: the inference of &V1& required
under <ZH>INFERENCES:</> is not possible in any of the value assignment
    alternative of the constraint.

    System Response

The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

    How to fix this error?

Please note that a variable in the conditional part of the constraint
(CONDITION:) cannot be inferred in this constraint. Also, a variable in
a conditional restriction (after IF) cannot be inferred in this
conditional restriction. The relevant declaration determines which
inferences are possible from which table or function calls.
Please note that formulae cannot be expanded after all variables.
Special criteria apply to restrictable variables.
Either remove &V1& from the list of required inferences, or change the
restriction part and/or the conditional part of the constraint
    accordingly.
Before you try to restrict the characteristic variable under
INFERENCES, you should check in the characteristics maintenance
function (<DS>Restrictable</> indicator) whether this is allowed.

  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 28132 - Inference for characteristic variable &2 (facet &1) not possible ?

The SAP error message 28132, which states "Inference for characteristic variable &2 (facet &1) not possible," typically occurs in the context of SAP's Variant Configuration (VC) or when working with characteristics and dependencies in the SAP system. This error indicates that the system is unable to infer a value for a characteristic variable based on the current configuration or the defined dependencies.

    Causes:

    1. Missing Dependencies: The dependencies that should provide the necessary information for the characteristic variable may not be defined or may not be activated.
    2. Inconsistent Data: There may be inconsistencies in the data related to the characteristics or the configuration profile.
    3. Incorrect Configuration: The configuration of the product may not be valid, leading to the inability to infer the required characteristic values.
    4. Circular Dependencies: There may be circular references in the dependencies that prevent the system from resolving the values.
    5. Characteristic Value Restrictions: The values assigned to the characteristics may not be compatible with the defined dependencies.

    Solutions:

    1. Check Dependencies: Review the dependencies associated with the characteristic variable and ensure they are correctly defined and activated.
    2. Validate Configuration: Go through the configuration profile and ensure that all required characteristics are properly set and that there are no conflicts.
    3. Review Characteristic Values: Ensure that the values assigned to the characteristics are valid and do not violate any restrictions or dependencies.
    4. Debugging: If you have access to debugging tools, you can trace the execution of the dependencies to identify where the inference is failing.
    5. Consult Documentation: Refer to SAP documentation or help resources for specific guidance on the characteristics and dependencies you are working with.
    6. SAP Notes: Check for any relevant SAP Notes that may address this specific error or provide patches or updates that could resolve the issue.

    Related Information:
