  • What is the cause and solution for SAP error message 26145 - SAP archiving for document type & maximum & bytes: file has & bytes ?

The SAP error message 26145 typically occurs during the archiving process when the size of the archive file exceeds the maximum allowed size for the specified document type. This can happen when the system attempts to create an archive file that is larger than the configured limit.

    Cause:

The error message indicates that the size of the archive file being created for a specific document type has exceeded the maximum size limit set in the system. This can occur due to:

    1. Large Volume of Data: There may be a large volume of documents being archived at once, leading to a file size that exceeds the configured limit.
    2. Configuration Settings: The maximum file size for archiving may be set too low in the system configuration.
    3. Document Type Settings: Specific document types may have their own size limits that are being exceeded.

    Solution:

To resolve this issue, you can take the following steps:

    1. Check Configuration Settings:

      • Go to the transaction code SARA (Archive Administration).
      • Check the settings for the specific document type you are archiving. Look for the maximum file size settings and adjust them if necessary.
    2. Split the Archiving Process:

      • If you are archiving a large volume of documents, consider splitting the archiving process into smaller batches. This can help ensure that individual archive files do not exceed the maximum size limit.
    3. Increase Maximum File Size:

      • If the current maximum file size is too low for your needs, you can increase it. This is done in the configuration settings for the archiving object associated with the document type.
    4. Review Archive Object Settings:

      • Ensure that the archive object settings are appropriate for your data volume and business requirements. You may need to consult with your SAP Basis or functional team to make necessary adjustments.
    5. Monitor Archive Jobs:

      • Regularly monitor your archiving jobs to ensure they are completing successfully and not encountering size-related issues.
