Message text: Performance trace was already switched on for & at &
A performance trace can be switched on, on the same instance, either
for one user or for multiple users defined using a pattern. It is
irrelevant how many performance trace types are used.
In other words, it is not possible, for example, to switch on both an
SQL trace for one user and an enqueue trace for a different user.
You are attempting to switch on a performance trace. However, another
user has already switched on one or more types of performance traces on
the same instance.
Processing continues after the error message.
You can only switch on the performance trace types you want after all
types of performance traces have been switched off.
Before switching off the performance trace, contact the user who
switched on the performance trace. Another user can switch off the
performance trace after a confirmation prompt. Again, it is important
to note that all performance trace types must be switched off.
The system issues an error message and will not allow you to continue with this transaction until the error is resolved.

- Performance trace was already switched on for & at & ?The SAP error message "0S101 Performance trace was already switched on for & at &" typically indicates that a performance trace (also known as a performance analysis trace) is already active for the specified user or transaction at the given time. This message is part of the SAP performance analysis tools, which are used to monitor and analyze the performance of various transactions and processes within the SAP system.
Cause:
- Multiple Trace Activations: The error occurs when there is an attempt to activate a performance trace for a user or transaction that is already being traced.

Solution:
- Check Active Traces: Before attempting to start a new performance trace, check if there is already an active trace for the user or transaction. You can do this using transaction codes like ST01 (System Trace) or ST05 (SQL Trace).
- Stop Existing Trace: If you find that a trace is already active and you want to start a new one, you can stop the existing trace first. This can be done in the same transaction (ST01 or ST05) by selecting the appropriate options to deactivate the trace.
- Use Different User/Session: If you need to run multiple traces simultaneously, consider using a different user or session to avoid conflicts.
- Review Configuration: If the tracing behavior is not as expected, review the system configuration to ensure that automatic tracing is not enabled for the transactions you are working with.
